Denman East Terminal Upgrade

We are upgrading the Denman East Terminal to help ease traffic congestion and improve safety and access to the terminal for people and vehicles. In February 2023, concerns about the project led us to pause construction to give us time to re-engage the community.

While we gathered input from the public about the project in 2017 and 2018, we recognize that time has passed and perspectives about the project may have changed since then. We are re-engaging with community members now, to understand how we can address areas of greatest concern, and create community benefits through the project.

The Denman East terminal plays a critical role in connecting the Denman and Hornby Island communities. As populations on both islands grow, we want to ensure the terminal remains safe and easy to access. To do this, we are proposing to:

• Create more space to hold cars off the roadways and away from driveways and intersections
• Create dedicated drop-off/pick-up zones, crossings and routes within the terminal for people walking on the ferry
• Improve access to the waiting room and washrooms for customers
