BC Ferries is undertaking a rehabilitation project on the Snug Cove terminal ramp. The floor beams of the ramp are reaching the end of their service life and need to be replaced.
What’s happening
Portions of the ramp were replaced in 2024 and this project builds on that work. Elements of the ramp infrastructure will be refurbished and replaced to ensure smooth operations at the terminal. The floor beams will be replaced with new beams that will be installed and bolted, and if necessary, welded into place.
Construction timeline
Construction will start in late fall and is expected to last approximately five months. All construction will be undertaken at night, with no anticipated impacts to service levels or sailings.
Work will occur
October 29, 2026 to March 1, 2027
Monday to Friday
Between 11:30 p.m. (after the last sailing has departed) and 5:00 a.m. (prior to the first sailing arriving)
What to expect during construction
We understand that construction can be impactful on community members. To reduce impacts on customers and the ferry network:
Work has been scheduled at night, so no sailings are cancelled or impacted
The construction methodology has been amended and is expected to be quieter than similar work undertaken in 2024
Residents in the immediate vicinity will be notified in advance of work commencing
No work will occur between December 19, 2026, and January 3, 2027
We are committed to keeping the community informed and supported throughout this project and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Please check back regularly for construction updates.
