Neighbourhood Check-in
about 1 year agoCommunity Drop-in Event Monday, April 24
Due to heavy snowfall, road closures and local power outages, we have decided in the interest of safety to the community and our teams travelling, to postpone the Community Drop-in until Monday, April 24 at 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.
As a large part of the island is experiencing power and phone outages, and would not be able to join virtually, the FAC meeting will also be postponed until Monday, April 24 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
The online ideas board below will remain open for feedback and comments.
For any questions, please contact: engagement@bcferries.com.

We want to know what is important to you, and your community.
As we continue to work on building the connection between communities and BC Ferries, our goal is to create opportunities to collaborate and hold meaningful conversations. One of the ways we are doing this is through our community drop-in sessions. These sessions are a chance for us to hear directly from those who live, work and play in the communities we serve, and for community members to connect with us face-to-face.
Ahead of our arrival, you have an opportunity to provide us with questions, comments, and topics that you would like discussed at the next session. Leave your feedback below, or like other community members' posts to help us shape our conversations.
To view some of the information we will be sharing at the community drop-in, please click here or visit the resource library on the right-hand side of the page.
Please note:
Thank you for participating. Please be aware we will not be responding to questions or posts left on this board directly. If you have specific questions and would like to speak with one of our team members, please send your question to engagement@bcferries.com
As a reminder. we are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment and one that allows everyone an equal opportunity to participate. Any disrespectful or abusive comments will be taken down. This website is moderated 24/7 by an expert global moderation team from Bang the Table. To learn more visit Moderation Policy.
Cloudchaserabout 1 year agoOn call restrictions
When I worked on call at the pulp mill in Campbell River we had to live within 20 minutes of the pulp mill. If we turned down more than 3 shifts in a month we were fired. Sounds like BC Ferries needs a system like this. After hiring and training hundreds of new employees they can't get anybody to work ? Something is not right in that company.
1 comment0Chris Loweabout 1 year agoPublish historical data on "available space" for each sailing
Since it is currently not possible to book travel to/from Salt Spring Island, please make the ferry loading data that BC Ferries collects available to your customers. Most SSI residents know that, for example, a Friday summertime afternoon sailing to the island will be full, but for other days/times most of us are just guessing. With the historical “available space” for each sailing available we can better make our own decisions about the best days and times to travel.

foot passengers We have long walks to get on and off the ferries ,especially so at Crofton and we suffer the NOISE and POLLUTION from the vehicles. We are seniors, moms with kids and persons with some mobility issues. On the Skeena Queen vehicles park over the lines and it is hard for us to pass by without getting our clothing soiled from dirt/dust on those vehicles

Your Ferry Advisory Committee
Salt Spring Island
Chair: Harold Swierenga - haroldswierenga@gmail.com
BC Ferries is fortunate to be able to work with 13 Ferry Advisory Committees (FAC) located in communities up and down the coast of British Columbia. These committees are typically made up of 8-12 volunteer members who represent the ferry-dependent communities we serve. Ferry Advisory Committees play a fundamental role in facilitating information sharing between communities and BC Ferries. The committees provide important advice and insight that helps inform day-to-day operations, terminal and vessel improvements, schedule changes, and other initiatives.
