Alternate Service and Schedule Updates

Due to terminal construction at Village Bay on Mayne Island a revised sailing schedule will be in effect for the Southern Gulf Islands (SGI) network from January 5 - March 1, 2026. Learn more about the revised sailing schedule and the Village Bay Terminal Project here.

Otter Bay Terminal – temporary berth closure (March 6-10, 2026)

Otter Bay’s terminal construction will require a five-day berth closure from March 6-10, 2026. Emergency and essential services will not be impacted. We are also working with commercial users to minimize disruptions. Dangerous goods sailings will not be impacted.

Water-taxi service

During the closure, BC Ferries will provide a foot-passenger water-taxi service between Otter Bay and Swartz Bay.

  • Free parking will be available at both terminals.

  • Terminal assistance will be provided at both locations.

  • While the water-taxi schedule is still being finalized, our goal is to match the existing ferry schedule as closely as possible.

Travelling with pets on the water-taxi

Pets are welcome on the water-taxi under the following conditions:

  • They must fit on the owner’s lap or between their feet/legs on the floor.

  • Walkways within the water taxi remain clear and unobstructed for safety.

  • Pets must be non-aggressive and under the owner’s control at all times.

Passenger safety is our top priority. The water-taxi operator reserves the right to refuse service if safety requirements are not met.

BC Ferries is committed to keeping the community informed throughout this project, thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while we complete this critical infrastructure work.
