Notice of work: Campbell River terminal

BC Ferries is investing in necessary upgrades to the aging, berth apron structure at the Campbell River terminal as part of our ongoing commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient ferry service.

Construction work will be divided into two phases to improve efficiency and allow the most time-sensitive repairs to be addressed sooner. Construction activities for both phases will occur during nighttime hours to minimize operational impacts. The project is expected to have minimal impact on the Campbell River community.

Phase 1: Monday, September 28 to Friday, October 30, 2026

Work will take place overnight as follows:

• Sunday to Thursday: 11:00 pm to 5:00 am
• Friday and Saturday: 11:30 pm to 5:00 am

Activities will primarily involve welding, grinding and painting on the underside of the berth apron. Task lighting will be used during this work. Minimal noise is anticipated.

Phase 2 work will occur in early-to-mid 2027 with additional details to be provided closer to the start of construction. This phase is expected to include piling work, crane and barge operations, as well as bolting, grinding, and chipping activities. Task lighting will be used during this work.

Noise bylaw exemption

BC Ferries has received approval from the City of Campbell River for a noise bylaw exemption permit to allow overnight construction activities.

This notification is posted on the BC Ferries' website via a Service Notice, which has also been posted at the Campbell River and Quadra terminals and on vessels in the region. Notification has also been shared with terminal neighbours for awareness.
