Changes to Route 10 Summer Schedule
Starting June 1, 2026, the Route 10 schedule will be revised to reflect slower vessel speeds in areas with high marine mammal presence, in response to safety and environmental guidelines and ongoing feedback from First Nations.
With speed reductions, on-time arrivals in Prince Rupert have dropped to about 30% during peak months. To improve reliability and support trip planning, arrival and departure times at Prince Rupert, Port Hardy, and mid-coast ports are being adjusted to match real operating conditions.
Service frequency and capacity remain unchanged; only scheduled times are adjusted.
Southbound Route 28A transfers to Route 10 at McLoughlin Bay will see a 50-minute longer wait.
Arrival times at Port Hardy and Prince Rupert will be later but will not affect other connections.
Proactive marine mammal protection, including enhanced lookouts and speed reductions, continue beyond the Wright Sound Special Operating Area as needed.
These changes aim to balance reliable ferry service with our responsibility to coastal ecosystems. BC Ferries Customer Care teams are working with key clients to ensure they’re prepared for the change. We are committed to keeping communities informed and connected and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety and environmental stewardship.
