April project update

Hello Quadra and Cortes Island community members,

I’m happy to share the following updates on work that will be finalized over the coming months at both Heriot Bay and Whaletown.

Completed work:

  • The demolition of the old berth and temporary trestle at Heriot Bay was completed in March.
  • Additional shoreline riprap work at Heriot Bay was also finished in March.

Upcoming work:

  • Paving at both terminals is planned for mid-April, and once complete, the installation of fencing, gates, and railings will take place.
  • Minor fine-tuning and adjustments to the new infrastructure are ongoing.
  • Revegetation along the shoreline at both terminals is planned for spring.
  • The dock fit for the Island Class vessel is planned for spring, in advance of its summer deployment.

I’d like to thank the community once again for the patience shown as we finalize the Heriot Bay-Whaletown Terminal Projects work.

Thank you,

Jeffrey Li
