Nanaimo Harbour Terminal Project Update

Construction activities associated with the Nanaimo Harbour Terminal Berth Life Extension Project are nearing completion. While the project was originally expected to conclude earlier, additional work identified during construction and evolving project requirements extended the schedule beyond initial estimates.

Electrical upgrades associated with the life extension project are expected to be completed in July. The separate terminal electrification project remains on its own schedule and scope.

To complete remaining deficiency work, the marine contractor is expected to return to the terminal in late July through mid-August. Some activities may be undertaken overnight to minimize impacts to ferry operations. Nearby residents may experience intermittent noise during this period, and every effort will be made to mitigate impacts on local residents.

We recognize the disruption this project has caused for nearby residents and appreciate the patience and understanding shown by the community throughout construction. We remain committed to providing timely updates about upcoming work and will continue working to minimize impacts wherever possible as the project is completed.
