Neighbourhood Check-in Fall 2023
8 months agoWe want to know what is important to you, and your community.
As we continue to work on building the connection between communities and BC Ferries, our goal is to create opportunities to collaborate and hold meaningful conversations. One of the ways we are doing this is through our community drop-in sessions. These sessions are a chance for us to hear directly from those who live, work and play in the communities we serve, and for community members to connect with us face-to-face.
We understand not everyone is able to attend the upcoming drop-in on Thursday, September 21 between 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the Powell River Town Centre in person. Therefore, this page is available as another opportunity to provide us with your questions, comments, and topics that you would like to discuss. Leave your feedback below, or 'like' other community members' posts to help us shape our conversations.
Please note:
Thank you for participating. Please be aware we will not be responding to questions or posts left on this board directly. If you have specific questions and would like to speak with one of our team members, please send your question to engagement@bcferries.com
As a reminder. we are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment and one that allows everyone an equal opportunity to participate. Any disrespectful or abusive comments will be taken down. This website is moderated 24/7 by an expert global moderation team from Bang the Table. To learn more visit Moderation Policy.
Vicki Pierobon8 months agoThe 12:20 departure on the winter schedule is too tight to safely facilitate the 9:40 out of Horseshoe Bay.

It would be helpful for there to be webcams at the above 2 terminals, so we can judge in advance the ferry loads, (given that they are not included in reservations or current conditions).
1 comment1Dawn Adaszynski8 months agoEarl's Cove/ Saltery Bay Run - It's time to keep the same schedule All Year Long
The winter schedule for the Earl's Cove/Saltery Bay run is silly. If the 12:25pm ferry overloads, the next ferry isn't until 4:55 pm. You are causing people to drive like mad men, from the Langdale terminal to Earls Cove, in order not to be left behind. At the VERY LEAST, please change the schedule around the long weekends, Christmas and on Fridays, Sundays & Mondays.

People traveling for medical appointments that have TAP forms should be given priority loading.
0 comment1Sibylle8 months agoGuaranteed Loading
For travellers with reservations on the Langdale ferry, loading on the Earls Cove ferry should be guaranteed (and vice versa for the trip south).

Julietteabout 1 year agoAssured Loading for Residents
Assured loading for residents. This is our highway first and foremost, tourism second.

First ferry in the morning should start at Powell River heading to Comox

We have spent more than we could afford over past year, needing medical appointment and special needs met as trips are cancelled so often we couldn’t do day trips and had to overnight with hotel costs added just to make appointments. Also my son in wheelchair van with low clearance always had to push to be on car upper deck by elevator to exit his vehicle by ramp on pass side.
0 comment4Evaabout 1 year agoExpand free pass program beyond seniors
Free boarding Mon-Thurs, now available only to seniors, should be extended to all BC residents, especially those living outside Vancouver/Victoria. BC private vehicles without reservations should pay no more than what it would cost in gas to drive the distance sailed. Out-of-province persons or vehicles should pay at rates commensurate with similar tourist services elsewhere. Across the board, reservations should cost something more.

Your Ferry Advisory Committee
Northern Sunshine Coast
Chair: Kim Barton-Bridges - k.bartonbridges@gmail.com
BC Ferries is fortunate to be able to work with 13 Ferry Advisory Committees (FAC) located in communities up and down the coast of British Columbia. These committees are typically made up of 8-12 volunteer members who represent the ferry-dependent communities we serve. Ferry Advisory Committees play a fundamental role in facilitating information sharing between communities and BC Ferries. The committees provide important advice and insight that helps inform day-to-day operations, terminal and vessel improvements, schedule changes, and other initiatives.
